INTROHeretofore are presented the rules that shall govern play such that a fair and gentlemanly environment is preserved at all times. DIVISIONSThe divisions for the S11 League shall be:
(Added 2009-04-12) - All songs must be played with Rock Band 2. You can't play DLC in Rock Band 1 and submit a score from that. SCHEDULE, PRELIMINARY ROUNDS, SCORINGThe S11 league shall consist of four preliminary rounds, each one week in duration, followed by a playoff. Round 1 starts Sunday April 5th. Each week will feature THREE songs. Each league participant shall submit their highest attained score for each song during that week to the league administrator. Your score for each song will be based on your relative ranking of all scores submitted that week using the formula of ScoreHero leagues as devised by Barfo, with a maximum per song of 100 points. The maximum score for a week is therefore 300 points. The maximum score during the preliminary rounds is 1200. A non-submission for a song earns 0 points. (Added 2009-04-06): The best score for a song gets 100 points. Every other person gets a number of points based on their ranking. So 2nd place gets less than 100 points, but more than 3rd place, and so on. As long as you submit a score you will get some points. Most people will not get 100 points on a song, and you will usually get less. The important thing is just to be in the top 12 (or 16) by the end of the first four weeks. (Added 2009-04-06): Nobody is eliminated during the preliminary rounds. You cannot be disqualified for not submitting scores. Instead you will just get no points for any song you don't submit. It obviously improves your chances to make playoffs if you submit for every song, but depending how good you are you could skip many songs and still make it. PLAYOFFSThe playoffs shall be single-elimination. The number of people who make the playoffs shall be based on the number of participants, but shall generally be either 8, 12, or 16 people depending on the size of the league. In no case will more than half the participants in an individual league make the playoffs. In the event of a 12-person playoff, the top 4 seeds will receive byes in the first week, and the 5th through 12th seeds shall play in single-elimination to determine the final 8. Full band divisions may allow more than 50% of the members to make the playoffs in order to provide for at least three rounds. Each playoff round will have a duration of one week. The playoff final for full bands will have a duration of two weeks. Playoff rounds use a match-score system (highest score on a song wins the song, regardless of difference). Each non-final round will have three songs and will be a best-of-three. The final round will have five songs and will be a best-of-five. In the event of a tie, the tie-breaking system will be (in descending order of priority):
PRIZESFirst place in each individual division receives a $50 gift certificate to www.RockBandParts.com, redeemable for anything in the store. First place in the full-band division is $100 for the entire band, split however they wish. First place also receives a custom banner from Inv4der celebrating their triumph. Second and third place in each division will receive second and third place banners from Inv4der celebrating their almost-triumph. :) I would like to thank Ryan Guard of RockBandParts.com and Inv4der for helping make the league more attractive for competitive play. SCORE SUBMISSIONClick on the "Submit" link. Proof is REQUIRED in each round. Proof requirement will be waived in non-playoff rounds if submitted score is no greater than another score you have previously submitted to SH that had proof. I reserve the right to request proof for future weeks from any player/team who is heavily exercising use of the waiver; it should be the exception, not the rule. (Added 2007-04-10): A full band may submit a score earned by fewer than all four members, if one of the four members is not available. When a band is submitting a score in this way, it is acceptable for one member to play more than one part (e.g. voxtar or Phil Collins mode). Scores are due 11:59 PM PST on Saturday. As long as I'm getting e-mail submissions I may be less fascist about this, but once the on-line system with timestamps is going, I will be strict. SONG SELECTION1-2 songs each week will be DLC, taken from a subset that includes Wii DLC. At least one song each week will be from the RB2 disc. No song below Tier 3 will be included. In the playoffs, no song below Tier 4 will be included. Each DLC song chosen will be checked against RBDLC.COM to verify it's reasonably fun to play. In leagues where PS2 players may participate, if one of those players should make the playoffs, the song selection for their match will have substitutes for the DLC songs, and both that player and their opponent must play the non-DLC song. In these cases it will be communicated clearly to the players involved, and on this site, what song is to be played. No song will be repeated for the same division. A song that appears in one division may come up later in another division. QUITTERSThe experience of this league is enhanced for everyone when people participate, compete hard, and have fun. Conversely, if you quit halfway through, you ruin the experience not only for yourself but for anyone else who is taking part. Please don't quit. If you sign up and quit part-way through without a good excuse, you are banned from any future leagues I organize. If you are really short on time, it is more honorable to yourself and to others to do your best, submit a score, and take the chance someone might beat you. It's ok to lose, but it's lame to quit. INTERPRETATIONS AND ADDENDAI am the sole arbiter of disputes and will interpret these rules in whatever way is necessary to maintain the smooth operation of the league. I reserve the right to change these rules as necessary during the course of the league. At the same time I respect the time put in by league participants and will not make any changes except where the integrity of the league requires it. When additional rules or interpretations are needed I will add them and clearly outline on the site what is new or changed. |
